Nine Inch Nails- Ghosts I-IV: 10/10

Honestly, I didn't even know I could do this review because I can't express the utter and ultimate perfection that this album exhibits and shows.  Maybe this will even give you a glimpse into who I am and what kind of music most appeals to me. There are still albums that I deem better than this that I couldn't even dream of reviewing, due to the insecurity I have with myself and my own abilities to judge something so far above me, but I have chosen to do this as a challenge for myself, and for others to decipher what makes this album so special.

Muse- The Second Law: 6.5/10

Hello minions, as you can see my good friend Brian posted his first review on Side Meier's Civilization V, and I'm impressed to say the least.  I can expect to see good content coming from him in the near future, but as for Carl and Will...meh.  I have yet to see what they can do, but let's not give them the benefit of the doubt.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings Review

Hey it's Brian and this is my first post on this blog. Today I'll be reviewing Sid Meier's Civilization V and the Gods & Kings expansion. Civilization V is a turn-based strategy game by Firaxis and is the fifth game in the Civilization series released in the U.S. on September 21, 2010. The game consists of the player controlling one of 34 civilizations (some only obtainable through individual dlc). There are also minor civilizations called city states that you can communicate with.  To win the player must have command over all other civilization's capitals, build a spaceship and win the space race, complete the Utopia project with culture, or win a diplomatic victory by winning control through the UN.

New Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Headphones. Yeah, I went there.

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Black Headphones - HD280PRO (Google Affiliate Ad)

Just got a pair of these, and I'm loving them.  They're cheap, yet studio quality headphones to wear at home. Let me rephrase...AT HOME.  Don't be that guy who wears colossal headphones around his neck to try and be stylish, but fails every time.  Get some earbuds or something, try-hards.

Slowdive- Souvlaki: 9.4/10

Slowdive is one of the most prominent shoegaze/dream-pop artists of the late 80s and early 90s, along with Whirr, My Bloody Valentine, and Galaxie 500.  Perhaps the most prominent, but that's besides the point.  They have a short, yet solid, discog, but many people consider Souvlaki to be their magnum opus.  Souvlaki consists of ethereal drones and perfectly juxtaposed vocals of the two lead singers, and never fails to maintain its consistent and dreamy melodies.

Animal Collective- Centipede Hz: 5.7/10

Yay, finally an album with little to no feels.  At least I hope so, for the sake of your common sense.  Also an album that I didn't like with almost every fiber of my being!  Huh, is it weird to get excited by the idea of mediocrity?  Anyways, I could just describe this album as a 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' clone, but those of you who aren't familiar with Animal Collective (in other words, the lucky portion of you) might need a little background knowledge and some actual explanation. Damn, give a brother a break.  Well, this being the new Animal Collective album, there was a bit of a cultish worshipping going on...all for the sake of this "okay" album.  Hipsters gonna hip.  As you can already tell by my tone, I am not impressed with this album, but I've gotta say, Animal Collective set a high bar for any future recordings, so maybe they shouldn't have rushed this one with such a rabid fanbase set up on esteemed boards such as /mu/ and rateyourmusic (sarcasm).

Who's up for an angsty monologue?

Ego Death
I am a human.  I am suffering the hugest sense of ego death right now and there’s no one to talk to except for an inanimate program.  Just like me, I am an inanimate program.  My brain is nothing special, nothing new.  I am the product of chaos, I am not special.  Maybe I’m special in the sense that I am unique, but not special in the sense that I am above others.  I am on this same low, bottom tier of apes I have always used to describe humanity other than me, and I don’t know what to think.

Ghostly Swim by various artists: 9.2/10

Adult Swim has always given me a sense of nostalgia...well, not always. I think I'd be kind of freaked out if the first time I watched it, adult swim warranted a sense of nostalgia, but that's beside the point.  Adult swim is one of those things that you can always chill to while watching, something you can always fall back on and know that it'll catch you with it's comforting melodies and minimalistic black screens, entertaining you with the highest brow comedy you could find anywhere.  No sarcasm, try finding stuff of that quality watching Carlos Mencia.  Actually, don't try, I don't want to scar you for life.

Intro.

Alright, So I'm Carl. There's my intro. I will be doing mostly music reviews. I'll be doing reviews on a few various styles of rock mostly. Metal-core, Post-Hardcore, Pop-Punk and maybe a few others. I'm very open minded and always willing to listen to new music. If you have requests on any bands let me know.

The New Blog

Hello all you plebs out there reading our generic media blog, and say hello to me, a red-headed stepchild. I'll be handling a lot of legacy game reviews as well as some modern games once I get my gfx card. This blog will be exactly like if pitchfork and theverge had a baby with Gaben except more awesome, I know, hard for a pleb to imagine, but stay with me here. Just sit down and get ready to watch a fledgling blog rise to the top of the interwebs, and then brag to all your hipster friends at Starbucks that you were reading the monocled peasant before it was cool.

William

Meet my friends

I've decided to have several co-authors to help me with this review site.  What big review site has only one person posting on it?  That's right, none, and I can't amuse and entertain you all day now, can I?  I do have a life, you know.  Kinda.  Anyway, the new authors that will be helping me are Carl, Brian, and William, at least for now, and don't worry, they'll have names to identify themselves, so you can sift through all the crap and find the strokes of genius that are my posts.  As if you'll need that, but I don't want anybody thinking I've gone full pleb.

The Fountain Soundtrack Review: 8.7/10

Well, since I've got this blog up and running, I better post something to keep the masses entertained.  I guess I'll do an OST review. How quaint.  Anyway, I've decided to do the Fountain soundtrack, as I just watched it a few days ago leaving it fresh in my mind.  I'm listening to it as I type this, and I can definitely hear the resemblance between this and Chris Mansell's earlier work, which is definitely not a con.

Font

Today, the font will be papyrus.  Why?  Because I've lost control of my life.

10/10 would read again

As we're still in the production phase, the website is not in tip-top condition, and I'm still debating whether or not to invest in a private domain name, so this will be the temporary blog for now.  If you haven't already heard (which I'm guessing you haven't, you peasant), this is a generic media review site.  Cliche right? No, actually, this is the best site out there, so you better get used to it.  We have the best team of developers and reviewers out there (me), so you can expect some quality content to come from here.  I think I'll do the patrician thing and review Neutral Milk Hotel's 'In The Aeroplane Over the Sea' album first (by popular request, of course)  You would like that, wouldn't you?  I'll just keep you in the dark for now, but I know you'll be coming back for more.  I love my pathetic followers.
